Sorry for being a few days behind. There is a lot to cover.

NJPW, 8/7/13 (Samurai! TV)

Sendai Sun Plaza Hall

1. G1 Climax – Block B: Kota Ibushi Dramatic Dream Team vs. Shelton Benjamin

Shelton Benajmin beat Kota Ibushi by catching him with a paydirt on a springboard. Good match here. They kept it short and action packed and hit their spots. These two were a good match for each other and made for a nice opener. Rating:***

2. G1 Climax – Block B: Toru Yano vs. Karl Anderson

Yano won with a low blow. This started out okay as Anderson did a sneak attack on Yano but it went too long. They both did cheap heel tactics and Yano even grabbed Karl by the ears, which was funny.

3. G1 Climax – Block A: Tomohiro Ishii vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr.

Davey Boy got the win here with a Liger Bomb. Excellent match. Smith sold like an absolute madman and really went all out for Ishii. Ishii was good at being the underdog and trying to stirke down the big redwood. He hit great lariats and suplexes and Smith sold them well. This was very good and really surprised me. Rating:***3/4

4. G1 Climax – Block B: Yujiro Takahashi vs. Minoru Suzuki

Suzuki won with a Gotch Style Piledriver. The match was too long but I liked the bully Suzuki giving it to the jerk Yujiro. Both guys were decent here and showed good emotion.

5. G1 Climax – Block A: Togi Makabe vs. Lance Archer

Togi Makabe won with the king kong knee drop. I thought this was okay early and showed potential but it ended up going too long and that ended up hurting it.  The personalities could have interacted a bit more, which would have made this better.

6. G1 Climax – Block B: Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Tetsuya Naito

Tenzan got the win with a moonsault. I thought this wasn't bad. Naito's offense all looked really good and him and Tenzan matched up well. The crowd was into it and Tenzan put out a decent performance.

7. G1 Climax – Block A: Satoshi Kojima vs. Prince Devitt

Devitt won with a Bloody Sunday. This was a shortened version of both of their G1 matches. Kojima did the stiff shots early, then Devitt did all the cheating and interference, before getting the win.

8. G1 Climax – Block A : Kazuchika Okada vs. Katsuyori Shibata

Okada won with a Rainmaker. I didn't like this one. They went too fast and didn't sell. Shibata kicked a post and no sold it. Later, Shibata hit tons of offense on Okada and a rainmaker knee and Okada no sold it. No thank you here. This was a hurry job and a waste of the precious first Okada/Shibata match.

9. G1 Climax – Block B: Yuji Nagata vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura got the win with the Boma-Ye. Good match here with a furious pace. They went fast and hard and it turned out to be good. Nagata dropped Nak hard with suplexes and Nak's Boma-Ye's were good as always. The crowd liked it and both guys put in nice passion here. Rating:***1/4

10. G1 Climax – Block A: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hirooki Goto

Hiroshi Tanahashi got the win with the High Fly Flow. I thought this was good but both guys looked absolutely tired out there. Not sure what the deal was but it was evident. They didn't even do a fraction of what they could have done though. They took it easy for the most part and had a real straightforward match. It was a little disappointing. Rating:***

Rankings:

Overall thoughts: Good show overall with Ishii/Davey being the highlight. Okada/Shibata and Goto/Tanahashi were disappointing though.
